Mower Upgrade
We recently replaced our Bush Hog mower with a used New Holland mower. It is similar in design but because the new mower is four feet wider it will allow us to mow deeper into the ditches. (posted 9/20/24)

Lakes Road Maintenance
As Lakes Road continues to age, the patching we have been doing ourselves is not keeping up. We hired a contractor to perform bituminous overlays on the worst areas. One of the areas was also built up to flatten it out as it was becoming dangerous. Earlier this year we also hired Douglas County to shoulder Lakes Road to help maintain the integrity of the roadway. We will continue to apply for grants each year for reconstruction. (posted 7/12/2024)
Gravel Applications
The 2024 gravel applications have been completed following the new gravel policy. We have also applied gravel to areas that required gravel before the next scheduled application. There are still a few spots that we will be applying gravel using our own dump truck. Please contact us if you have any questions. (posted 6/12/24)

What's New...
Lakes Road is certainly showing signs of its age. We have been actively persuing grants to reconstruct it. We applied for two grants in 2023 to be awarded in 2024. One was to the State of Minnesota and the other to the Department of Natural Resources. Unfortunately neither of them were awarded to us. So for now its business as usual...
-Arnie has been grading the gravel roads as necessary
-We were out on April 16 filling potholes and failing areas with patching materials on Lakes Road. We do not have enough patching material on hand to do everything so we are patching the most severe areas.
-We replaced failed culverts on Mary Lane and West Shore Drive.
-We removed the wing and the plows from the grader and the truck for summer operations.
-Township supervisors and Arnie Bitzan will be performing a road tour in the near future to determine areas in need for new gravel applications.
-We contracted tree trimming on Little Alps road to clear some blind spots.
This I a few of the things we have been working on... If you have any concerns or comments, we would like to hear from you. Please contact us... (posted 4/18/24)
